Emotion, Music and Medicine

While many accounts of our emotions focus on their intentional properties, what they are about, whether as judgements or perceptions, there is a long history of thought about our emotional life that focuses on the emotions’ role in health, contributing to our healing and wellbeing.

I will discuss both the historical perspectives and some contemporary scientific accounts to argue for the importance of emotion elicited through music as a form of medicine.
