Theories or concepts of Justice affect us all because we are all subject to courts of Justice which uphold and enforce the laws of our land. Yet, attempting to say precisely what is meant by ‘Justice’ turns out to be extremely tricky!
In this talk, we shall consider the role and significance of human imagination and creativity in the formation of our understanding and practice of Justice. Specifically, we shall consider whether the best explanation for the idea of justice is as an evolving human invention for maintaining social order or as an indicator of an invisible aspect of reality.
