Turing machines, artificial intelligence, and the mind-body problem

Presented by: Prof. John J Clarke

In his article of 1950, Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing posed the question: ‘Can computers think?’ In response he argued that by the close of the century it would be possible to answer ‘Yes’ to this question by making use of the ‘Imitation Game’.

What was this game? Did it validate his claim? What implications does it have for contemporary discussions of the mind-body problem?
