Human Nature has been defined as the psychological characteristics, feelings and behavioural traits of humankind; something we share as a species but not necessarily distinct from other species.
I shall be exploring the shared psychological characteristics that lead us to behave in certain ways with each other in the wider world, referring mainly to work on the Self done by philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and the psychologist Carl Gustav Jung. In the spirit of Julian Barnes who claims that great writers understand love and most aspects of human behaviour more than psychiatrists, philosophers or priests, I shall also be alluding to several writers on the topic.
